Meet Daniel
Daniel moved to Austin at just one year old, or rather, his parents did, bringing him in tow. Ever since, the whole family has lived in Austin, welcoming a little sister several years after arriving. Austin is the only home that Daniel has ever known, which is why he’s so committed to fighting for it.
Currently, Daniel serves on the Travis Central Appraisal District Board of Directors, after defeating then-Travis County Republican Party Chair Matt Mackowiak in an election for the position. In this capacity, he fights for equity and fairness for ordinary taxpayers, while maintaining predictable funding for local governments and our local public schools that so desperately need it.

Since returning home, Daniel has volunteered for and donated to Democratic campaigns up and down the ballot, served on the Travis County Democratic Party Chair’s Advisory Council, and for the Texas Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Program. In his day job, Daniel works in electricity regulation, empowering power companies to build the infrastructure needed to maintain reliability – and making sure those companies comply with reliability regulations! Finally, Daniel also volunteers for numerous nonprofits and community-building efforts, such as the United Way of Greater Austin, the Austin Chinese-American Network, and the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, serving as an ally on their Board of Directors.

A proud product of Austin’s public schools from K–12, Daniel graduated from LASA High School and intended to become a math professor, preferring universal eternal truth over the lies prevalent in politics. But while attending college at MIT, Daniel was inspired by several local politicians who served their communities with integrity. So he decided to pay it forward to the communities that invested in him by turning Texas blue. So upon graduation, Daniel enrolled at Harvard Law School with his eyes on public service back home in Austin.
